Plants vs Zombies

These cupcakes and cake were for my littlest nephew's Plants vs. Zombies themed birthday party. I frosted and my sister decorated with the rolled buttercream fondant made (and dyed!) by yours truly.

My nephew made the paper decorations that topped the game board cake. He is a very talented artist!

Strange Currency

When I first started playing Words with Friends, I looked up a list of possible words containing the letter Q but not U. I use the popular QI and QAT relatively often, but there are others I've yet to play in a game. SHEQEL had been one of those words until the other day when I played it against a worthy opponent.

Actually, I played SHEQEL once before but it was in a game against myself so it doesn't really count.

History One Day Will Rave

I'm on a bit of a losing streak with Words with Friends. I've lost five of my last six matches. But, I got a great bingo today, which I hope means that I will soon be winning games again.

When I played this word I couldn't help but think of the Muppet version of The Frog Prince when Taminella keeps shutting up Robin by stuffing popovers in his mouth. "Have a popover froggy!"

Words with Friends

I've been playing Words with Friends on my iPod a lot. Occasionally, I get bored while waiting for my opponent to play a word so I start a game between myself and Player 2. I used to think Player 2 was better than me, then this happened.

I don't really like or use the word utilize that often, but I'm glad it came to me in this game. 145 is the most I've scored on one word so far.
Wanna play? Words with Friends is a free app for the iPod Touch and the iPhone. I'm accepting new challengers.

Guys and Dolls

At last night's Lake Erie Monsters' hockey game, they gave away Shaq bobblehead dolls. It was a good ploy to sell more tickets since they had the biggest crowd in franchise history. The Monsters won in overtime, and there was even a decent fight in the first period.
The tickets were courtesy of my godson's father, which made the whole thing even better.

Super Bowl Cookies

I was invited to a Super Bowl party that was also a potluck event. Naturally, I brought a dessert. I debated about what to bring, but ultimately I decided to make chocolate chip cookies because I thought I had all of the ingredients in (I didn't and had to run to the store on Sunday morning) and because they're ready in a flash.

I made one batch in a large pan so they would be thin enough to cut with a football cookie cutter after they cooled. I made the other batch with my signature no burnt chocolate chips on the bottom method. I used about a quarter cup of dark brown sugar and half a cup of light brown sugar instead of just a 3/4 cup of light brown sugar in the recipe to make the cookies a little browner.
I was surprised that the footballs were eaten faster than the regular shaped ones. I prefer the regular cookies. Actually, I prefer the edges that were left in the pan after the footballs were cut. I like a crispy cookie.

Who's Older?

One of my favorite games to play is guessing which celebrity is older from the list of birthdays for the week in the Sunday newspaper's magazine. I don't actually play since I'm always emcee.
If you'd like to pretend that it's Sunday and you are in the same room as me try this quiz brought to you by US Weekly.
